Hello, my name is Chloe West, and I am the founder and creator of Neuro Psychedelic. I have a PhD in neuroscience from Georgia State University. From a young age, I grappled with existential anxiety, constantly pondering the purpose of human existence, consciousness, and my own identity. As I delved into psychology, philosophy, and religious studies during my undergraduate years, my yearning for answers to life's profound questions only intensified.
It wasn't until I was introduced to the idea of psychedelics that I found a new avenue for exploration. Through my research on the topic, I discovered the transformative potential of these substances and their ability to catalyze personal growth and healing. This realization led me to co-found a Psychedelic Club at my university with two like-minded friends. The club provided a safe space for us to share experiences and learn from others' insights.
As I delved deeper into the world of psychedelics, I saw firsthand the positive effects they could have on individuals struggling with mental illness and emotional trauma. This experience motivated me to pursue a career in psychedelic research and advocacy, ultimately leading to the creation of Neuro Psychedelic. I am passionate about exploring the intersection of spirituality, psychology, and neuroscience and believe that psychedelics have the potential to revolutionize our understanding of human consciousness and mental health.

Starting as an Instagram account in early 2020, Neuro Psychedelic has since grown into a science communication firm that aims to end the stigma surrounding psychedelics by providing accurate and accessible information. In September of 2020, I launched my Neuro Psychedelic merchandise line to further promote psychedelic awareness and expression.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, I began creating educational TikToks, and my account has now reached over 95,000 subscribers. Through these efforts, I hope to spread awareness of the therapeutic and healing potential of psychedelic substances and combat misinformation with accurate scientific data.
My ultimate goal with Neuro Psychedelic is to work full-time as a psychedelic advocate and science communicator. I believe that everyone should have equitable access to these transformative substances, and I am committed to supporting the decriminalization of psychedelics in the United States.
If you share my passion for psychedelic science, education, and advocacy, or are simply an enthusiast interested in joining the Neuro Psychedelic team, I invite you to contact me at chloewest@me.com. Together, we can make a positive impact on the future of psychedelic research and education.
Research
After completing the first two years of my PhD program, I was given an incredible opportunity to research the effects of psychedelics on belief-updating mechanisms under the guidance of Dr. Neil Van Leeuwen and Dr. Jordan Hamm. Dr. Van Leeuwen, an empirically-oriented philosophy researcher, specializes in understanding belief and imagination, with a focus on topics such as factual versus religious belief, self-deception, pretend play, and religious credence. Meanwhile, Dr. Hamm is a system's neuroscientist whose research focuses on understanding the circuit mechanisms underlying novelty detection using EEG and mouse models.
My PhD dissertation research delves into the impact of psychedelic substances on predictive processing, in other words, how we let go of and form low level sensory beliefs. The potential implications this research may aid in our understanding of the therapeutic benefits of psychedelics. I am excited to share the results of my experiments with you as there are some fascinating and groundbreaking findings in the works. (UNDER REVIEW FOR PUBLICATION)
Overall, my goal is to contribute to a greater understanding of the benefits and potential risks of psychedelic substances, and to promote safe and responsible use for therapeutic purposes. I believe that through scientific research and education, we can reduce the stigma surrounding these substances and pave the way for a brighter future of mental health treatment.
